Rebecca Hartka grew up in the Waldorf school, K to 12, where everyone plays strings. Now, she has the DMA in Cello from the Boston University College of Fine Arts, with an undergraduate degree from Oberlin College. And she is still having fun at it!
Along with a career that spans solo, chamber, and concerto performances, Dr. Hartka is also known for performing music that reaches across cultures and connects folk and art traditions. With a gift for inspiring curiosity and involvement among listeners of all ages, she has performed in schools from Bangkok to Boston and beyond.
An accomplished music educator, Rebecca was most recently on the faculty at Montana State University at Bozeman. Curently, she teaches at All Newton Music School and at the Red Barn Music School in Amherst.
