I was sitting in the office one evening when Gary came in and asked if he could use a room to give a lesson. Afterwards, he came in and we started talking and he said, hey, we should do something, you know, like a week. And I said, you mean, like an intensive?

And here we are.

Gary travels all over the country giving jazz clinics so we decided to do one here, like a whole week of playing and masterclasses and concerts.

For no good reason, just for the fun of it.

Gary called Karrin and Bob and Tom and they wanted in.

And we hope you will, too!

Anyway, here is all the standard stuff...

The Summer Jazz Intensive with Gary Smulyan and friends at the Red Barn is dedicated to providing an opportunity for students and active musicians to play beside masters of jazz and share their passion for music.

Our instructors are not only world-class players and/or performers, they are talented teachers genuinely dedicated to supporting each student's growth.

With an enrollment of approximately 45 students, participants have an exceptional opportunity to get the tools needed to reach their own next level.

But our students leave with much more. This total immersion, and the opportutunities to interact with other people who speak the language we call jazz -- whether in class, at jams, rehearsals, or just hangin' -- will enrich students in ways that are immeasurable, both musically and personally.
